Has anyone used (or know of) a good service to link "podcast pals" across countries? Ideally, this would be something where my students could record themselves speaking in French, and exchange with students in France who were practicing their English.

What a great idea, Jeremy! If you're looking for find a class to work with, try the Global Education Collaborative ning that I started. I know that there are a couple of teachers from France who are members. It's not a formal service, but it might be helpful.

Dear Jeremy
I am an ESL teacher in France and I created a podcast with my students with Podomatic
( http://mauriel.podomatic.com/?badge=1) I put a badge on my blog ( http://bacpro1.over-blog.com/). I would be grateful if we could have a common project on podcasting: our students could exchange on youth lifestyles and put their recording online. Feel free to contact me.
I just saw this up on a blog by Jim Wenz. You might find this helpful as a quick and easy way to post blogs. You would still need a place to put the blogs. Haven't tried it out myself but look to.

Bonjour Mauriel,
If you're still looking for a class to podcast with, I've been looking for students in France to share with my French students in the U.S.
A tres bientot j'espere!

I am a consultant working on a Middle School 21st century vision here in Atlanta, Georgia . I've introduced the great app, VoiceThread, to several teachers and we are designing some cool applications for it across the curriculum. In particular, our 7th and 8th grade Spanish teachers are using it to have their students comment and tell stories in Spanish around photographs grouped by subject. We would love to have a classroom (or more) who would join us.

Voicethread is like a combination of slide shows, digital storytelling, podcasting, etc. To take a look at it, www.voicethread.com. Please contact me-we'd love to share ideas!
I just read about Mixxer. I haven't tried it yet. I just found out about it an hour ago. I plan to investigate this weekend when I have more time. If anyone knows about this, could you please let me know ?
