Breaking it down- How can learning be different now in K to 8

This is a spin off of several recent discussion threads. most seem to agree that the critical piece is to move beyond the cool tools and into the essential learning. So my current question is what this means in a K -8 setting. The following ideas are only the rough images of what it might mean and I need our collective wisdom to get a better picture.
K to 2- his curriculum largely focuses on literacy and learning to read. Another part of this curriculum is "learning" school- what it is how we work there etc. A good deal is taught through modeling. Enter technology..(I am not a fan of drill ad kill with computers) so now we need to model a different image of school. Learning and thinking about learning is a key component. Also using web resources as information sources.
3-5 this curriculum is the bridge...We know how to read so now what/This is a harder area to pin down. Thinking about learning continues and constructing meaning should be more apparent. They also probably need to get some instruction in productivity skills here so that they can use whatever tools are currently available. Is there where they begin to practice sorting information for themselves?
6-8 How does this curriculum change- I think it is about constructing knowledge and ot being spoon feed. Technology becomes a door to the world.
How would you break it down?

OK, there obviously can be a huge number of answers to this, many somewhat omphaloskeptic. Let me go down just one path and ask a question with examples: Here are a whole bunch of Learning thru online Sound, Motion, and Interactive Media.

Do any of these make learning different? Is this part of the "cool tools", or are these more annoyance or irrelevant? If some enhance learning, what makes them better than ones that don't?

I know this could make a whole 'nother thread or site, but in the context of Barabara's framework, do these count?
