Alternative to Second Life?

Hi everyone!

I was thinking about using Second Life as an extension activity, but I am experiencing some resistance from administrators and others becuase of its reputation as a "mature" game. I have brought up Teen Second Life as well. Is there another program that is similar to Second Life where students can create characters and interact?
