My staff and I are currently evaluating new antivirus/ antispyware products and while I know that no one product protects everything, I was curious to hear what some of you are currently using and what your impressions are of that product.

In my tenure here at NEISD, we have gone through several products. Some that were eval/ demo versions of the product, and others we adopted as a standard on all of our systems. We have worked with McAfee, Norton, Computer Associates (CA), and recently TrendMicro Officescan. All of which offered some nice features but had some deficiencies we have had to make some major adjustments to. Currently we have seen products like ESET and I just heard about a product called Threatfire which is suppose to be behavior based instead of signature based.

I look forward to hearing some of your responses.

I'm not a purebred techie; more of a user-end person, but I've liked Avast and AVG. Did not have much success with Norton or McAfee, because they missed major viruses and didn't uninstall completely. They embedded files into the deepest nether-regions of my registry and they were a mess to clean out.
avg 8.0... has a free version as well as a pay for version... been using avg for at least 3 or 4 years now and so far so good!

good luck!
I'm a new teacher this year but on my home computer I've been using Ad-Aware and have tried it here at school and it's found a couple things that got through our firewall. We only have the free version not the active monitoring version. Does anyone have any feedback or experiences with this program?
