Any platforms for sharing student work with parents and staff?

Hi,

Our school is looking for an online space to regulary share content created by both students and staff.

Basically for Posting text, links, photos, and even audio recordings or video.

Required features as follows:

-Accounts set up. System should allow administrators to create several accounts for parents manually or by sending invites to all various parents through the system for instance.

-It should be safe and ideally free.Athough We could consider a realistic price/plan.

Any help would be much appreciated.

One possibility is StudyBlue.com

1. User create account with school, class and teacher.

2. Add content to class folder, or "digital backpack" as they call it.

3. When anyone adds content to the folder, everyone associated with the folder is notified of the change.

4. Students/teachers/parents can see what's in the folder, use it, etc.

The flashcards are especially useful. They have apps for iOS and Android, so students with smartphones and tablets can use them to study.

Thanks for your suggestion, but apparently Studyblue is not what I am looking for. In order to create a class,you need to be affiliated to a school network.

I was thinking you could probably utilize and/or finagle Google Drive to do most of that, or possibly wikispaces. Just brainstorming. Hope it helps.

Any Google Site could work. You could create a class site and that will allow you to post text, links, photos and audo recordings. You can also set them to private meaning you can setup who is and is not allowed to view the site. Good luck!

Sound great Kayla.Google was my first pick. But I not too sure about if their terms of service can be an issue.Privacy is our main concern.

Hi Roger!

Have you considered edmodo (www.edmodo.com)? It's not a perfect solution for what you're looking for, but it does have several features which might be helpful. It is private, allows easy sharing of many file/work types to different groups of people, and is free. Because use and setup is similar to Facebook and other social networking sites, it is also fairly intuitive to use.

Individual classrooms can use edmodo, or schools/districts can apply for domains. Parent accounts are set up automatically with each student account (they just need to log in to activate).

I've used edmodo in my classroom for the past several years, and this year our school moved toward using it as our primary online learning environment. The flexibility and functionality it provides are pretty impressive!

One drawback I will note is that I have found the parent portal to be somewhat lacking. I've resolved this problem in my room by having parents log in using their student accounts.
