I am undertaking a research project on education in the United States and would benefit from secondary educators knowledge and experience.

I am keen to explore whether anyone would be willing to engage in a short conversation with me to answer some of my research questions. My questions focus on how schools prepare children for lifelong learning, work, the recording and reporting structures, and how the link is forged between students, home and school.  There may also be an opportunity to participant in a pilot project at no cost to the school. I am not involved or employed by a marketing firm or selling anything, I wish to only seek valued opinions and incites into education in the US today.

As part of my research, I am interested the following aspects of school life and would like to understand more about how processes are shaped and directed by the school, teachers and curriculum.

  • Home-school communication and expectation for parental involvement.
  • Recording attendance and self-monitoring, including rewards and praise
  • Rewards, sanctions and praise, including recording achievement daily and over periods of time
  • Assessment and self-monitoring against set criteria
  • Personal development, including  communication skills, problem solving skills and achievements
  • Mission statements  and codes of conduct and behavior
  • Marking criteria for written work
  • Mentoring and tutoring

Thanks

Michelle
