I am intrigued by suggestions that students should learn how to design and build an app or apps for the universe of "i" devices out there. Does anyone know of an application out there appropriate for High School students to do so? Something with the same capability and cost (e.g. free) as appbreeder - which is not operational - is what I am hoping to find. Thanks.

I have never used it but I am going to play with this in the summer and try it out next year.

For basic video game creation, you can try the FREE programs Kodu Game Lab, Gamestar Mechanic or Alice.
I recently wrote a blog post about video gaming in education that includes more information on all these tools, if you're interested.
Good luck!
