Our district just moved to Google Apps. Looking at my current documents, a lot of it can be converted to a google doc (they don't use any of the more robust features of office). The others I can just send to google doc as is and use it as a storage. I am looking forward to version control, accessibility and collaboration/sharing.
One thing that concerns me is backup. I'm used to having multiple backups of my docs. I see under more actions I can export all my google docs (2GB at a time) out of google docs to a local computer. However it asks to convert the files for exporting. If I convert my google docs to a open office or microsoft file, does it then mess with the formatting? Has anyone tried to export all their files and then reload them into google docs? Did it work ok?
My second concern is connectivity. How often or problematic is connectivity to google docs? I'm rather confident in my connection to internet, I'm concerned about things going down on google's end.
Your help in calming my nervousness is appreciated!
