Black Poetry

It is important that students understand other cultures so they can relate to others positively. I feel that poetry is a viable resource in retating to cultural experiences that should be a teachable moment in every classroom.

Assignment: Have students read poems from different countries and write about their cultural experiences in an essay. Write a reflection essay to something they experience in life to share with classmates to create a positive awareness in the classroom. Understanding is the key component in therapy writing and discussion. I have posted poems that can be used in your classrooms.
