Happy New year to all !!!
I am going to start my senior leadership class blogging this semester. They will create their own blogs, under my suoervision, and be responsible for responding to several articles during the semester. I was trying to figure out how to assess them other than just a participation grade. Do you grade them like an English teacher, grammar etc.,which is my first inclination, or is there a better way? Any rubrics out there?
Thanks

The first resource that I use when trying to figure out how to assess my students' writing or any other subject is the state curriculum standards. I was kind of curious about your standards and found the writing standards here: https://www.georgiastandards.org/Standards/pages/BrowseStandards/EL...

Base your task and assessment on the standards. You could probably choose one specific area from each of the following writing standards:
organization
genre
technology
conventions

Then you can organize your grade book using each of these descriptors that will provide 4 grades for each blog that you assign. Along with the assigned task you will include a rubric based on the writing standards chosen for each blog. This is the process I use when assessing the writing in my fifth grade class here in California.
