Hello,

I am trying to look at various LMS system to decide which one is the best and cheapest LMS system I can recommend for my school. Currently we are using Moodle, but I am not the fan of this system nor my professors. I am looking for  a system which is easy for both - Student and teacher to interact for Online teaching.Your inputs will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks

Our university has used WebCT and Moodle. We are now using Desire2Learn. http://www.desire2learn.com/ I am just getting acquainted with it. There is a bit of a learning curve but I really like the interface. The province of Ontario has chosen Desire2Learn as its  LMS portal for its secondary school online courses. http://www.desire2learn.com/news/2011/Desire2Learn-Awarded-425-Mill... https://ontariolearn.desire2learn.com/ (I am not connected with the Desire2Learn compnay)

I can say that I liked D2L from the student side. I was part of the Global Campus Master in Education program using D2L until it ended and the program was pulled into UIUC using Moodle. D2L was a good solution presenting materials from my perspective. Whatever tools they provided for instructors did allow for a nice, clean interface for students to navigate, progress, and learn in D2L.

Thanks Pat. I will have a look at it. My main concern is user interface. I do not want user to get confused on where to go or which option to choose in using LMS. Basically there should be no training involved in order to learn the system ( similar to how kids can use Facebook  today with no training ) .

What about Edmodo?  It's free and easy to use.  Works much like facebook, but it's only for schools.  Very secure. You can post and receive assignments.   It even has a grade book option.  You can upload files from Google Docs and share those as well as links.  Great to use for class discussions, too.

Honestly never tried Edmodo. I will give a try if it will solve what I need :). Thanks for the suggestion.

I've seen Schoology and Canvas reviewed by teachers.  Canvas seemed to be the newest and had some unique and integrated features. While Schoology offered something similar to Edmodo.  Hope that helps
