Hi everyone,

I'm so glad to be here.  I introduced myself in a thread earlier, but wanted to do it again.  My name is Diana and I work with HP focusing on technology and education.  I really look forward to hearing all of your thoughts.

Thought I'd share this great article from Fast Company about President Obama’s initiatives to improve literacy in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. What do
you guys think – is this the right approach?

I agree that technoloy needs to integrated into the Science curriculum, as well as other core subjects. If we are requiring the teachers to use and model it, while expecting the students to learn and use it, why is it not a core subject in and of itself? It is hidden in my state as well, but we are required to use it on a daily basis.
STEM is not the priority it should be. I know that the arts are equally important to an sound education, but we preach STEM and then fight against the expenditure of funds and time. Something has to give. Either we want a good education for our kids or we do not.
