I am in a class where we are learning and making communication boards. These devices are mainly for non-verbal students. A communication board is a machine that has a screen or slides of boxes. Each box represents a choice for the student in what they are trying to say or how they feel. The box sometimes words or phrases for the students to know what they mean, but they always have a picture of what the word or phrase looks like. When a box or series of boxes are pressed the board speaks for them. This enables the student to get out what they have on their mind and communicate with the world. It is possible to change the boxes and to get new slides and provide students with whatever words they want. Now with the Boardmaker Plus application/program, people can even make types of boards themselves! This tool is extremely beneficial for those people who have no verbal skills. Could you imagine having to go through life without talking to anyone? Or verbalizing to friends and family? I know I couldn't. No one should have to do this. This board gives those student who cannot speak aloud the opportunity to be heard! This is a blessing for families and schools all over the world and to the students that they are used for. I personally think these are extremely helpful in the classroom and at home. What do you think?

Boardmaker is a wonderful program, especially for users who also want the capabilities of a computer. I love its versatility and ease of use. The new Boardmaker Studio is nice as well. It allows the user to create interactive lessons and is very easy to use.

Did you buy the actual program or did you just download the 30 day trial? I want to buy it but I think it's wayyy to much money

I currently do not have Boardmaker but have used it a lot with clients in the past. I have used the trial version of Studio. And yes, it is very expensive. For something free, try: pVoice. It's a free download and the 'Help' section has directions on how to set it up. I just started playing with this one last week.

This is amazing! I am currently in the middle of a project for my AT class and the child that was created for us has communication problems and this would fit wonderfully with him! Thanks
