Short Session Description : How to create a miniMOOC for K-12
Full Session Description:
MOOC’s - or Massive Open Online Courses offer a connected way for all learners to discover how to learn at their own pace in their own way. Based on “connectivist” teaching ideas from George Siemens and Steven Downes, MOOC’s encourage learners to connect into networks and nodes of learning that are already “out there”. By using social media, interacting and networking together, meeting in asynchronous and synchronous ways - MOOC participants learn how to become autonomous lifelong learners. MOOC’s can offer educators a new way to “do” professional development, a new way to “teach” online and an option to “integrate” into a f2f classroom. Come and see how you can create your own MOOC like program to fit the needs of your school or organization.

I teach in a prep to year 12 school, so this looks like a really interesting session. I am currently participating in a games MOOC for learning. It has been wonderful although setting aside time to fully utilise the opportunities is always a problem for me.
Verena,
.
I look forward to your session. I'm a MET student - almost half way through
