Hi all,
I have a class website that I have worked very hard on. I created lots of Vodcasts, mini video clips as guides for the students. They have also in turn created their own vodcasts. Here is the class page http://bit.ly/8ptpsf (this is the shortened version). I would very much like to have it nominated to the Edublogs for the Best educational use of video / visual. My favorite teacher made vodcast on this page is the customary measurement and the best students one is the 'Place Value Rap'. The News Podcast page could be also submitted http://bit.ly/7GComC to the 'Best educational use of audio'. To do this someone needs to nominate me who has a blog. Can anyone help? Here is the link for the details of how to nominate http://edublogawards.com/ If you know of other people with blogs, have a look to nominate them, I am sure they will be grateful.

Regards
Helen Crompton

Hi Helen:

I looked at your vodcasts and that is such a neat idea. Is the basic/only difference between vodcasting and podcasting the fact that podcasts are done with an iPod and the vodcasts just use video? I would like to learn more about this technology.

You seem very tech savvy. Would you be interested in presenting or attending the upcoming Ohio Free-Tech 2010 Conference? I extend this opportunity to you, your colleagues, and graduate students to share research findings regarding technologies in the classroom, 21st century pedagogical approaches, 24/7 learning environments and communication skills that effectively engage digital natives.

Following the conference(s), SmartEd Services will be happy to make your research available via www.teachsmart.org and other social media networks.
Though we are a technology reseller, our mission is to create understanding, not simply to sell “stuff.” This conference offers teachers and administrators the opportunity to come together and explore these integrated technologies and methodologies.

Recognizing the fiscal constraints facing Ohio’s schools, and with the knowledge that training budgets have been cut, we have taken it upon ourselves to bring professional development to these educators. Conferences will be held in January and February at locations in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo. They are offered at no charge to the attendees. Also, please know that we will not use this as a platform for sales.

Our goal is for attendees to walk away with a better understanding of their students’ needs and how proper technology integration addresses those needs through a range of disciplines and learning styles.

Presentation application forms can be downloaded at www.teachsmartconference.org. For more information, please call (800) 251- 4077 x397.

Thanks for your time!
Lindsey
Hi Lindsey,

Yes, podcasts are primarily audio, vodcasts are audio and video. I have done a number of conferences before and I very much appreciate your offer. I am currently studying for my PhD in education with a focus on the incorporation of technology into the curriculum. Here is some more information http://www.unc.edu/~hcromp/
I would love to come and present but is there any support with travel expenses?

Helen
Hi Helen:

Unfortunately, we are not covering travel expenses. We are putting the conference on free of charge to the academic community, so do not have funds to cover travel expenses.

Even if you don't plan to present, I would love to stay updated on your blog.

Also, please take a look at our facebook fan page: SmartEd Services http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/pages/Cleveland-OH/Smart...

I saw that, thank you very much. Would you mind if I put a link to your vodcasting tutorial?
Please do.
Hi Helen:

My bosses were very impressed, as was I, with your site. They are considering paying for your transportation. This is not official at all, however, I just wanted to give you the heads-up... hopefully we can work something out.

Lindsey
That would be fantastic. I am not sure which site you were talking about in this last post, but just to check you have seen both there is the class website with lots of examples of podcasts vodcasts and other things http://bit.ly/8ptpsf and on http://www.unc.edu/~hcromp/ my eportfolio I have some of the conference presentations that I have done. Some of the presentations are on things such as ITPs (Interactive Teaching Programs), these are from the UK as this is where I am from, moving to the US three years ago.
I will pass this along, looks great. I want to learn more about vodcasting, I love keeping up-to-date on the latest technologies! I will keep you posted on their decision. Thanks.
Wonderful, thank you.
I'm pushing for you. Good luck.
It looks like I will be seeing you in Ohio. Thank you very much Lindsey.
