Just wanted to chime in my 2 cents. I have been teaching in the North Texas area for the past 10 years. It was difficult for me to find a job 10 years ago, even with a 4.0 GPA and a Science specialzation. I still got my first job via a connection at church.
Things are much worse now, especially in the DFW area.
If you are really that concerned about having a teaching job you are 100% happy with, then you may need to settle for waiting a few years and doing some substitute teaching in the mean time.
The other side of the coin is this: if you need a fulltime job, I would take the first position you are offered. Times are tough in Texas, with many getting laid off. Sometimes just getting your foot in the door is the first step to finding a position you are really happy with.
Not meaning to be negative, just realistic.
Good luck!
