As a first year teacher I know that things can be frustrating and overwhelming at times. What advice would you give the “first year you” or an educator who is just starting their career in regards to student needs, parents, lesson planning, classroom management, etc.?

.) It doesn't get easier; you just get used to the demands.

.) There will always be more you can do. Let yourself give it 100% (instead of 200%) sometimes so you don't burn out.

.) HAVE FUN!!!! If you can't find something that makes you laugh every day, it's time to find a new career.

.) Your job isn't to prepare kids for a test. It's to prepare them to be successful in college and beyond. If you prepare them to be successful adults, the test scores will take care of themselves. (And you'll be a lot happier.)

.) Always, always, always do what's best for the kids.
