Hi all! As my PLN continues to grow, I am interested in ideas for globally collaborating middle/ high school math by incorporating a "flipped classroom". I have been following and studying Vicki Davis' concept of The Flat Classroom for a while and am very intrigued and motivated by it.  Any personal successes/stories with flipping in mathematics and/or global collaboration (initial small scale)? I would love to hear them.

Thanks for your time and and input you can provide.

Hey Brishundra! I would also love to flip the classroom, though right now it has been difficult to incorporate it in my teaching since many of my students do not have internet at home. Check out my case study about it-

Hi Katrina!  While researching, I read that one teacher makes DVDs for students without internet access and another teams up with the computer lab for time to watch videos.

The only problem with that is I would have to make like 30-40 DVDs and I don't have the equipment to do that efficiently. I asked one of the guys who started this concept about it and he said they have a DVD maker that can do like 3 at a time, but it costs like $200...would just have to try to get something like that through the budget if possible.

Brishundra, I am also interested in learning about success story/stories of 'flipped classroom' in K-12 setup. Please share any response you may get.

Coincidentally, we re working on improving our site to incorporate the feature that resembles flipped classroom. The site (AskOwls.com) is live virtual classroom where  teachers / instructors schedule a topic to teach to a group of 10 students. We are expanding this to allow teachers to create a video first and then let students form a workgroup around the topic.
