Hi Fellow Teachers,

You are going to see a lot of new topics posted by me in the next few weeks. Thats because I just discovered this sight and it's an answere to my prayers. I teach Ninth Grade Technology at a Charter school in Los Angeles, CA. I'm the only technology teacher. I do not have any textbooks, standards or fixed cirriculum.

Although my charter school group has several other schools, we are never given professional development time to collaborate. We are also quite spread out geographically so difficult to meet.

In short I'm on a deserted island, and I feel like I have been rescued with this site. It's incredible. Thanks for all the people that created it, run it, and members.

SO MY NEWEST QUESTION--CAN SOMEONE RECCOMEND A GOOD FREE SITE TO CREATE SLIDESHOWS FROM .JPGS, THAT CAN ALSO ADD SOUND AND EFFECTS???

ALSO LOOKING FOR EASY TO LEARN ANIMATION AND/OR COMIC STRIP CARTOON SITE??

We dont have flash or any other fancy software, just ms office 2003!! And I'm anxious to introduce several new programs. However since I will have to learn them myself quickly I don't want them to be too complicated.

Thank you,

Eric Silvern

Can you record sound, manipulate pictures, and create transition effects on these sites?
Eric,
My favorite resource is Discovery Education's video tutorial's on every topic. Steve Dembo and Hall Davidson are real Ed Tech stars. Their videos are organized by topic with visual intros to classroom friendly web 2.0 tools. Here's the link: http://cdwg.discoveryeducation.com/web2.0/video.cfm
Enjoy,
Faith
Hi Eric,

I have a stie that can help you with stop action animation if it is something that you are interested in using. Its called Sam animation. Here is the link to their software download http://www.samanimation.com/ Its fairly simple to use and has good tutorials. Can learn it in a short amount of time. As for the slide show Microsoft Photo Story is another free download that will let you animate a slide show. Good luck and let me know if I can help in any way.

Photostory 3 from Microsoft is a free download (windows) or iMove (mac) are super easy for slide shows with music.
xtranormal.com has a basic program you can use or pay about 5 bucks a month for more features which allows you to use voiceovers and such...I've used it to create lesson plans in my History class and believe it or not it is NOT blocked by our district (yet)...easy for students to use if they know how to type
