Hello, all.

I'm looking to research school models of one-to-one technology integration. I'm especially interested in learning about the successes and failures of these schools regarding the implementation into the classrooms, the staff and student responses to technology, education regarding the technology prior to distribution and the handling of damage and loss. Any direction that I can be pointed in to further research this on my own would be helpful, so if you've heard of a school system that you think would be a good model for me to research, please at least send the school's name and its location to me so that I can dig deeper. Of course, if you have links or documentation, I'll take that, as well.

Thanks in advance!

Liz,
We've just started the initial stages of a 1:1 at our middle school and I am leading the charge. This year the core subject teachers received their tablet PCs and were are in full swing with staff development. We gave them their tablets a year ahead of the students in order to get them comfortable with the technology. The remaining staff and 8th grade students will receive their tablets in the fall of 2009 and then in 2010 the grade 7 students will receive theirs, making the school 1:1 24/7.

We visited Washington Middle School in Kenosha, WI, which is a 1:1 Apple school. They are a great model! We are still writing policies and making decisions about damage/replacement costs and insurance. I'd be happy to talk and give you any information we have thus far or discuss our planning process.
