Hi, I just started using Google Apps - Docs. I understand most of it, but am not sure about 2 things.
1- What does the hidden icon do? How do you use it?
2- I know you can do a search of your documents, but can you search the Internet while still having the google docs open.

Thanks.

Answer to question 1 - You hide documents for two reasons. The first is that you want a shorter list of documents. It can be cumbersome when you have more than a screen of documents. The other reason you would hide them is to prevent people from accessing them. You can invite people to use documents individually or you could publish the list to a weboage (vis RSS), People could click on the documents to access them (and edit them if they have proper access)

Answer to question 2 - After you select a document to edit, it opens in it's own browser window.

Check out the forms capability with Google Spreadsheet. It is a great way to collect data from colleagues and/or students without a lot of data entry
