I'm excited to have been accepted to the 2009 Google Teacher Academy in Boulder, Colorado. I am interested in hearing from GTA alumni: what should I expect during the academy?

I wrote about my experience at An Innovative Educator’s View of A Day at The Google Certified Teac... I look forward to reading about your experience.
Congratulations! I applied for the GTA, but was declined. What are some suggestions for applying next year?
Hey Grant, don't give up! Try again next year. This year over 200 educators applied, 50 were selected. One of the primary things that affect your selection is location. The GTA gives preference to educators who live near the location of the conference. This isn't to say that they don't select people from elsewhere. I'm from Michigan and got chosen, but keep that in mind.

The mission of the GTA is to influence the greatest number of educators possible. They accomplish this by selecting people who have a great impact. I think (**speculation**) that I was selected because I am creating a podcast series on Google's products which are being placed on iTunes. This gives me an essentially global impact.

Here is the welcome presentation that we saw. It breaks down who was selected and where they are from. It might be helpful to review. I hope this helps! Don't give up!
