The University of Maine has decided to eliminate all language majors. This is the flagship university in Maine. There are numerous ramification from this move. One is the impact this will have on secondary education--- there will be no new language teachers produced in Maine. Our teaching force, like that of most of the nation is aging and many are approaching retirement age. Please consider using the link below to voice you opposition to this foolhardy move.

Being a Foreign Language teacher (French/Spanish), I am very concerned about this. I have signed and shared the page with other teachers to sign. Also posted to my Facebook. Good luck!!!
Gracias et merci Thank you so much. I am in a department with four language teachers. One is retiring in two years the other in three. This is going to have a huge impact on me personally.
