In need of recommendations for Video Software to use in the classroom

I am a middle school computer teacher and some of my colleagues (Foreigh Language Teachers) have asked if I would work with them on creating videos for an upcoming fashion show. I am very excited about the opportunity, but I wanted to know if anyone has worked on a fashion show video project before. Also, I wanted to know what software is easiest for students to use for editing and inserting titles/subtitles, etc.

I welcome all recommendations. Please keep in mind that budget is always an issue. We are using Windows XP as our Operating System. The Director of Technology is open to installing free software onto the network, but we cannot pay for anything else at this point in time.

Screencast-o-matic.. allows you to create screen casts which can include PowerPoint or other types of presentations with the option to include your own webcam. The free version allows you to do up to 15 minutes w/o any ability to edit the content. The Pro version - which can be shared with some others, allows you edit video/audio content, including adding title slides and on-screen helps. It also allows you to directly throw it up to YouTube, to Screencast-O-Matic (SOM)'s hosting, or save it down to an MP4 or flash file for your own hosting. Hope this helps. By the way it works on PC or MAC. It does require Java - but that's pretty standard.
