I have been evaluating the Aviary suite of web applications to use with students in our K-6 district. The tools are really powerful and can create an even wider set of options for our students in creating content. While reviewing the section of the site that shares all the creations that people have shared I found some images that would be inappropriate for K-6 students. With full access to the library students can view nude images. Our web filter did not block them, and even if it did they would be able to access from home. Anyone else planning to use these tools should be aware of this. I emailed the company to see if there was a away to access the tools without the library, but am not optimistic at this point.

A follow up to this post. I heard from Aviary yesterday that they will be creating a education friendly version of the application that will block the public feed. This is really good news.
