My principal would like to purchase an interactive white board for my classroom so that I can teach other teachers how to incorporate this technology into their classrooms. I am hoping that members of this forum can offer some opinion about the best configuration to use for a self contained 5th grade classroom. Thanks!

All of our 4th-6th grade classrooms are eMINTS classrooms. They each contain 2 rows of tables with 6 machines on each table. This of course forced our SMART Boards to be placed in at one end of the table. Otherwise we would have had students with their backs to it. This of course isn't the best placement either, because some of the students at the back of the room can't see over the computers. So when possible all teachers have a rug/carpet in front of the SMART Board and they all come up to interact with it. Not sure if you have computers in your classroom like we do, but this is something to consider if you do. For this minor hiccup, they still wouldn't trade their computers or SMART Board for anything. Here is our website. I recently took off the photos of the classrooms because of our silent auction. I will repost on Monday if you wish to she our set up.
