Hello All,
Our students will receive an iPod touch, 4th generation, when they begin the new school year next week. I am trying to find ways to use it as a supportive tool for studying outside the classroom. I do not want to have students spending money on apps if possible, so I'm looking first for free things, or things I can create myself and second for purchased items. Two things I would like to find are:
1) A vocabulary flash card tool. One where pictures and audio can be added to each word, students can test themselves on vocabulary, delete words they know and focus on misunderstood words. Since I teach English as a second language in Japan, it must allow Japanese script as well. I did find iFlash and I liked it, but on the iPod it is just the words, no pictures or audio. Plus it costs around $17 per student. Any ideas on how to create my own, or other tools similar to iFlash that have audio and pictures on the iPod touch as well as computer?
2) A quiz maker which students can use for review. The teacher can make quizzes, students download and put on their iPod Touch, then use for review. I would like to include audio, video and pictures as well in this tool. So, maybe students hear a short conversation, then have a few comprehension questions to answer. Or maybe something that can do matching exercises. I have looked at quizzler pro but have not been able to get it to work yet. Still looking into this program.
Teachers do not need to keep track of the student's scores, the tools main goal are for outside reveiw by the students. Any ideas/websites to look at would be helpful. The iPod Touch has great potential and I'm really looking forward to help students use it for more than videos and music.
Thanks!
Jeff
PS I really enjoy being a part of Classroom2.0. A really great group of people here!
