Hello everyone. My name is Scott Watkins and I'm the website coordinator at the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education at the University of Oklahoma. I'll be giving a talk in a couple of months to K12 Administrators and Tech Leads regarding what makes a school/district site useful. I'd like to tap into the resources here and see what your thoughts are. Links to examples and any info you can offer would be appreciated.

HI Scott:

nice to meet you! I look forward to this discussion.
I teach K-5 students in a lab setting, so that's my expertise. Websites need to be ad-free. Youngers don't understand what advertising is and believe the hype about winning a million dollars. Websites should be colorful, easy-to-maneuver, with the age-appropriate level of reading. Starfall.com walks that line as well as any I've used. Others are zoopz.com and Game Goo.

Do I need to add apolitical? Students at my level think like their parents, but don't understand the maxim that they shouldn't discuss politics, religion or money (you'd be amazed what I know about my parents' finances).

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
