We are in the planning stage of creating projects for grades 3-5 on Lewis and Clark. Do you have a great project idea that you would like to share? Have you already covered Lewis and Clark in your classroom? Can your students teach our students? Could you be a guest speaker?

Streams to the River, River to the Sea by Scott O'Dell is an excellent historical novel about Lewis and Clark. It is listed at Book Level 4.8. If this book is too challenging for your students, you could substitute another one in this activity. Use Edublogs to create a class blog where the students will journal as they read the book. Create a page for each student. Require that they make a certain number of comments on their own pages and a lesser number on the pages of their classmates.

The Library of Congress might have some maps that you can use to follow the journey of Lewis & Clark. You can also use this TimeLine Builder to have students create a timeline of their journey.
