I'm currently evaluating several options to bring Linux based computers and open source software into my county school system. Does anyone have advice what software is the best choice and how to implement the software in Windows Domain Environment?

Thanks

Kevin

There's going to be conversation about this tonight. See http://www.futureofeducation.com/forum/topics/panel-discussionopen-....

My best-of-class list for this would include:
- OpenOffice
- GIMP
- Audacity
- Moodle
- Many, many online Web 2.0 apps (See http://web20wiki.wikispaces.com/)

See http://www.k12opened.com/wiki/index.php/Tools for links and more.

The use of online apps works well on Linux and also takes care of many of the domain and log-in issues. I am involved in a one-to-one project in which almost all the tools being used are online and it is great!
Good suggestions here! You took the software out of my mouth!
