Hello all,

I have received this request for assistance from a local school district and am wondering what you all can contribute to the discussion.  Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

"I'm looking for a K-12 Web-based system with an ASP model that can allow
teachers to move their classrooms online, create simply web pages, post
homework, create calendars, and post handouts while at the same time scaling
up to enable teachers to use monitored e-mail, moderated blogs, wikis, chat
rooms, social networking, hand in/hand out assignments, digital locker
storage, and other advanced features in a closed and secure environment
which will then enable us to deliver focused staff development to support
the system."

We will be creating a comparison chart between multiple systems such as:

Moodle

Studywiz

Sharepoint

Blackboard

ePals Learning Space

Joomla

Sakai

Please help and contribute to this list so that we have a starting point.

Thank you in advance.

I have started trialling Edmodo. Not sure if it meets all your requirements though. I will be interested in following this thread to see what works best.
Definitely check out edu20.org too.
