Looking for Elementary School Activities

Hello! I've recently become Lead Elementary School teacher and would like to "hear" any ideas you may used for elementary school activities that involve the entire elementary student population.

I'm particularly looking for ideas such as Sports Day, Spelling Bee, etc.

Also, any ideas for the first week (or 2nd) week of school? ie. assembly ideas, spirit week ideas, etc.

Being an iPhone 'fan' I can recommend iPhone apps which can keep students really engaged. They tend to learn better.

There are a bunch of exciting iPhone apps which keep the children really excited. From personal experience, I have seen them taking to it as fish to water.

You can visit my class wiki and my class start page, see what we did last year. I teach grades K-5. The activities are many and varied. The wiki is for my fifth grade. Let me know if you'd like to see K-4 also.
