Hi all! My fourth grade classroom is looking to connect with a few classrooms from around the country to learn more about other regions. We are from Maine--ideally, we'd like to talk with classes outside of the Northeast. We're interested in doing a read-aloud via Skype using the book "L is for Lobster" to teach others a little about our state. In turn, we'd like to have classrooms share similar books with us. We'd also be interested in other ideas you may have. So, if you're interested, let me know!

Thanks!
Jen

I recently discovered Skype and am still playing around with it. I would like to join your Skype and see what you will be doing and how your classes interact with each other.
Thanks

Hi Jill, feel free to add me to your Skype contact list. My Skype name is Ms.Adams24.
I am interested in using Skype with my class but have never used it before. Can you please provide advice on where to start? I am so excited to learn how to use this technology but am having a hard time finding advice on how to get started on a teacher’s budget.
Hi Bambi,

All you really need to do video conferencing is:

~ web cam
~ microphone
~ Skype (free)

What grade do you teach? If you have more specific questions let me know and I'll see if I can help you. :-)
Hi Jennifer,
I teach 5th grade. I have a smart board with a document camera. I wonder if the document camera could work? I'm going to look at the store for the microphone and a web cam this weekend. I'll let you know then what questions might come up. Thank you so much for your help!
