I'm looking for samples of school wikis to share with principals. Specifically I'm looking for samples of wikis used across a school rather than wikis used by a teacher with students. I'd like to compile a list of these to share with schools interested in starting a wiki. If you have a sample please share and explain how this tool has benefited the school and next steps for the wiki.

Thanks so much!

I am the site coordinator for Mitchell Middle School's English Learner Accquistion Committee (ELAC). I am using a wiki to communicate with the staff... They are relunctantly coming along for the ride! As there is some financial data invloved the site is currently closed to the public but I would be willing share what I have with you so you can see how I am using it. Please ket me know if you are interested by getting in touch via email (mrpslane@gmail.com).

As an FYI, I rolled it out initially to administration, then requested the English department memebers to join, and this fall I hope to have the rest of the staff come on board. We shall see what happens...
I have some samples that I am working on and have used this past school year. I am from St. Joseph Jr-Sr High School and have used the wiki's this year during the second semester in my Applied graphics, graphic design, yearbook classes. Currently, I am teaching a summer p.e. course and we are also on the wiki (part online and part physical fitness). I can invite you to the wiki if you would like to go to it:

P.E. course (ongoing): fitkeikiwiki.pbworks

For this p.e. course, I have placed the book work online for students to do work at home (powerpoints, worksheets, journals, exams) Students were assigned specific pages in the wiki to complete their journals and final exam)

Graphics/Applied Graphics/Yearbook (to be revised): sumWIKImida.pbworks

For this course, students used the wiki as a project tracker and were required to create their own wiki's to display their work throughout the semester.

Using the wikis have allowed me to stay in closer communication with my students on a daily basis as we are allowed to converse in the comment boxes and notification is sent to both parties when a change or edit is made on the wiki. Less paperwork and everything is online at your fingertips. Students find it easier to work this way, rather than being accountable to have their materials for class. They can log on to any computer and continue working. It is a great way for them to showcase their work and share with others also. Security options are available to keep your wiki in control to your standards.

Our school is in the process of becoming a 21st Century School and we are adding on specific projects such as the wiki's to begin our experience. It is just the beginning for most of our teachers, as it takes time to convince and teach others the value of this tool. I've used it for one semester and am thoroughly enjoying the experience. It takes a lot of work to set up, but once you are set up it makes teaching more enjoyable and convenient. Students seem to learn a lot better and love the idea that we are using technology. My wiki's change on a daily basis, as I keep finding new things to do with it.
Thank you Peter and Miri and others who emailed me individually. I've collected your feedback and written a piece called Using a School Wiki to Increase Communication, Collaboration, and E... that I plan to share with principals and educators interested in starting a school wiki. I invite your comments, insight and feedback.

Thank you.
