I'm hoping that people will be able to help me. I've posted many posts here but this is a different kind of post. I have been working over the past many months to develop curriculum resources, using Web 2.0 technology. My initial hope was to sell these units to educators across the English speaking world. I would still like to do this because I need to support myself. But, so far the selling has been very slow, so I'm not sure if I'm going at it from the right direction.
I have developed a suite of five history related Google Earth units: "Considering the Realities of the Holocaust"; "Cuban Missile Crisis"; "Colonial Economic Regions"; "Okies Head West"; and, Gatsby of the Twenties. Each of these units is student centered and problem based.
I know that the few people who have seen these units have liked them. They've purchased additional units. But, I'm having a very difficult time getting the word out about these units. I'm thinking that it might be time to give away a unit to anybody who wants one with the hope that he/she will be interested in other units.
The initial price for each unit, which includes fifteen hours of activities, was $100. But, I'm wondering if I should reduce the price or possible sell multiple units for $100.
I would be happy to send anybody who would like to see a demo copy a demo copy, but I'm also looking for suggestions as to how to use web 2.0 to reach teachers. (My biggest problem is that I'm working with a very small budget. Actually, I'm working with no budget other than my own non-financial resources which I have obtained from more than twenty years in the education field.)
I'm hoping that this is not too commercial of a posting. I suspect my honesty within the post diminishes the commercial aspect of it a bit.
I'd love to hear any and all advice.
