Does anyone know of a program which supplies parents in low income areas with free or subsidized computers? Please let me know.

How flexible is the work you do with students? I've been teaching students to install Ubuntu (a version of Linux) on donated old computers. The computers aren't flashy, but if someone has an internet connection the computers will run fine. They don't get viruses, and they don't get bloated like some other computers.

I am on an island in Alaska, so I don't think our computers will help you. I just like to put the idea out there, and see if anyone in your area might be interested in pursuing this with their students. Some of our computers are going to end up staying at school, some will go home with students, and the rest will go back to members of the community who need them. Any money we take in will go to fund the proper recycling of older computers.
