Recently, I was at a workshop where a discussion took place about memorization. The idea was that students were no longer asked to memorize things. This was causing a weakness in the skill of memorizing. Are you asking your students to memorize, what are you asking them to memorize, and at what grade level? Are you noticing a difference in their ability to memorize or hold things in their memory?

I teach high school, grades 9-12, PE.  I ask my students to memorize things like vocabular such as:  muscles, exercises, and rules of sports.  For those students that struggle with memorization we do a quick review before they take the test and I make what I am asking them to memorize as similar totheir notes as possible.
