I think we are really building a collaborative community in our district. We have teachers, support staff and administrators working together as leaders and learners to identify problems and pose solutions to teaching and learning issues more effectively through PLCs, committees, ect.
I am interested in giving student’s a greater voice. I wonder what they think about Everyday Math, Developmental Spelling, Guided Reading, Gifted and Talented…. So I was thinking of creating school based Student Advisory Groups. We could meet with these groups to discuss curriculum, program, & instruction issues to get student feedback and ideas.
I was thinking each teacher could nominate students from their classroom.
Here is what I need help with...
What grade levels?
How do we insure that the students selected are representative of the school population?
How would this work with the already existing student councils? (It does have a different purpose, right?)
