I've been trying to implement the Read & Write Gold 9 literacy software tool into our district but have not had much interest. Teachers are so busy with mandated initiatives and teaching that another tool, unless it's mandated, gets overlooked or never looked at.
Anyone have any training tricks that might entice teachers to attend a workshop?
Hi Jean, I am an English teacher in Newmarket Ontario Canada and have had the same difficulty you are experiencing. I offered the resource as a "pilot" and looked to get new, early adopter teachers involved first and then counted on them to spread the word.
I also went to their schools for the workshops, asking them to invite one other teacher so I could show the software and how it works.
Finally, I sent a follow up email to the principals and superintendents of these early adopters (cc the teacher of course) praising them for their participation in this new program.
