This summer, teachers - new and old - will gather in Philadelphia for ntcamp (new teacher camp). ntcamp evolved from a twitter conversation
during ntchat (new teacher chat). This conversation led to designing a
one day conference in the form of an unconference for new teachers. For
one day, teachers will gather, generate ideas, and share best practices
about a variety of educational topics.
The goal of this conference is to provide new teachers with the opportunity to learn from experienced teachers and build and incorporate
a Personal Learning Network (PLN) as they progress through their first
years of teaching. As a new teacher, having a PLN and knowing how to use
it is an invaluable resource. Imagine enduring your first day of
teaching and then having your PLN to fall back on to reflect and
generate feedback and ideas. It takes the model of mentoring and
multiplies it infinitely. This is the founding principle of ntcamp. We
want to generate conversation, create learning networks, and spread this
fire throughout schools nationwide.
Please stay tuned to this page and bookmark it and share it with all of your social networks and schools. If you have any questions you can
contact us directly through this page. We will also be featuring teachers weekly through this site. We
hope to put a face and a story to all who are attending ntcamp before
they arrive this summer.
ntcamp is also on twitter and you can follow our updates @ntcamp2010 and please use the hashtag #ntcamp to follow updates and conversation
about our event. There is a wall wisher set up under the message board tab at
the top of the page. Please use this forum to communicate with
participants, set up plans, and brainstorm ideas for sessions.
Finally, we are excited to announce that ntcamp will be streaming our sessions live and filming throughout the day. The majority of our
sessions will be archived so that schools can use our sessions to
generate their own professional development and promote new ideas for
best practices.
