Earlier this morning (Sunday, April 5, 2009) President Obama addressed 20,000 people near the Prague Castle in the Czech Republic. He launched a drive to eliminate all nuclear weapons from the world. Obama stated, “Some argue that the spread of these weapons cannot be stopped. Such fatalism is deadly adversary. If we believe that, then we are admitting that the use of nuclear weapons is inevitable.” Coincidentally, Obama gave this speech on the same day that North Korea launched a missile over Japan. This even further supports Obama’s point of urgency. Since the Cold War, the everlasting fear of nuclear war lies among every major political leader in the world. The elimination of nuclear weapons would greatly comfort many people as well as more thoroughly ensure the world’s safety.
