Online vs. offline.

When your students work with computers in the classroom ... do they work more online or offline? What advantages does each model? Which do you
prefer? Why? Thank you.

Software is becoming increasingly cloud based, meaning online. The majority of the computer based assignments I assign (I'd say all, but it's tough to be absolute) require a web connection. The only "advantages" I can think of for having computers without internet access would be fewer distractions and limited options, which in some instances could be beneficial. If I have a computer I want it to have web access.
