Hi!  I am looking for suggestions on implementing peer observations as a professional development opportunity.  I have the details ironed out regarding conducting the observations and providing feedback.  I would like to know how other schools are making time to schedule the observations,  getting class coverage ect.  Thanks!

I am an ELD Coach 2 periods (including my prep if I wish to use it for that purpose) a day at my site. My job here is to support new teachers who have little experience with ELLs. Meeting times, conferences, and peer observations are left up to me and the teachers I am supporting. If I am teaching then, the AP finds sub coverage. I also have the power to find release time for them to observe veteran teachers in their fields at other sites within our school district. I also try to secure approval (i.e. money to go and sub coverage) for the new teachers to attend academic conferences since I feel they need to have access to the latest, greatest, whatever in their field:) Since academic conferences normally come in the second semester, this is a wonderful way to recharge their batteries as it were. I interact with them a great deal via email. In fact, through this interaction, I find out what they need and get it them with 24 hours most time.

Why am I not coaching all day? I chose not to do so because I also like teaching the kids:)
