I'm interested in podcasting (or, possibly, vodcasting) my daily lessons but am not sure how to accomplish this. I teach middle school science so it's not possible for me to be tethered to my computer and I'd like this to be a quick and easy process. Could somebody please give me some suggestions/advice on how to proceed and what my equipment needs might be.

Thanks!

My 8th Grade Math Teacher uses a flip camera and a tripod. It is focused on her smart board and it picks up all of the audio as well. It is very good. She puts her video up on youtube and then embeds in our school wiki. Youtube videos can only be 10 min long or less, so, if you have a long lesson, you will have to either cut the video half way and then start again, or use movie maker or quicktime pro to trim your video for size. It is working well and she is able to mail out the notes prior to the lesson.
Teachertube.com is great for posting videos as well and usually does not impede on "blocks/firewalls" that are in place on many school computers. These videos can be embedded on your wiki as well.
Our students record guest speakers using smart phones (most cell phones will record voices, though). They attached a lanyard to one of our Nokia phones, press "record" and the speaker keeps it around his/her neck for the duration of the presentation. The students then transfer the file onto a computer and use Audacity (free) or Garageband to edit it.

Also, have you heard of iPadio? It's a service that allows you to record your entire podcast just by calling a 1-866 number and talking into your phone. The podcast, or "phlog" is posted on the iPadio site, and you can download or embed it from there. Pretty cool stuff. I have a lot more info on my blog (scroll down to the "PODCASTING" section).
Thanks for sharing this resource. Pretty cool.
