Does anyone use a "Projection Panel" to do their class lessons?
A Projection Panel is basically an LCD see-through TV panel that is used in conjunction with an overhead projector.
The LCD Projection Panel is simply placed on top of your overhead projector.
The output from your TV, DVD, or Internet is then connected to and viewable on this LCD panel.
Then, whatever is on that LCD panel is projected through the LCD panel, via the overhead projector, onto the wall.
You can write on this LCD panel, like on any ordinary overhead projector face, and it shows on the projected screen.
It is the simplest system possible! Every teacher can be given their own LCD panel to use anywhere - even at home.
Please give me the manufacturer and model number of your Panel. Thanks.

Dear Frank,

I do believe that these products have been discontinued by all manufacturers.

I have not seen one in over 7 years.

I'm actually getting the materials together to build one of these -- as I understand it, you can do it yourself using the LCD screen from an old computer monitor. I found the directions here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Cheap-Improved-LCD-Overhead-Projector/
Hi Katy!

Sounds like a fun project.

These LCD panels were used as an alternative to the "Big, bulky, expensive" LCD projectors in the mid 1990s.
They were placed on the projection panel of an overhead projector to show computer generated images.

As projectors and prices got smaller and brighter, the market for these panels disappeared.
A compact LCD or DLP 2,000 lumen projector can sell for $400.00 for discontinued models. Many document cameras are approaching the sub $400.00 price point.

Casio is introducing a new long life, over 8,000 hour projector. (NO MERCURY) I have not received the pricing yet. This new technology will nearly eliminate the $400.00 replacement bulb that plagues school budgets.
They will be available in 2,000 to 3000 lumen models.
I expect that all the other manufacturers will be releasing similar products.

Good Luck on the project.
JJC
