SmartBoard in the Foreign Language Classroom

I just joined Classroom 2.0 yesterday (!) and am trying to ramp up my 2.0 capabilities. I teach high school French, currently levels one and two. After a lengthy application request, I was approved for a Smart Board which will come later this year. In the meantime, I would like to research best uses, advice, activities etc which I could begin preparing now, before it arrives. I previously found a lot of sites which had some activities for FL use, but I would love to hear your comments, URLs, etc. Ideally, I would like to set up a page on my wiki (just created yesterday too!) for French teachers to use and share Smart Board activities. Answers in French or English welcome! Merci!

Bon Jour! I teach high school Japanese and only recently received a smart board. I cannot say it has revolutionized my teaching but, I can run an appropriate Japanese youtube video, have students fill in an online cloze exercise based on the content and then have the them come up and do a hot potatoes "drag and drop" exercise for vocabulary review. It is a great tool for integrating web technologies into your lessons. For me the smartboard really comes into it own as a tool to facilitate bringing authentic content into your classes. Pop music videos, commercials, virtual tours of cities, the list is only limited by your imagination. The catch is, you need to prepare carefully beforehand so that there are no surprises! I feel that you'll get maximum benefit if you present the material in a way that allows the students to interact with the content you are presenting. Oh yeah and jeopardy is a lot of fun and you can make a game with powerpoint!
