Are you looking for exciting ways to share your passion for teaching and learning with global colleagues?
Education Beyond Borders (formerly Teachers Without Borders Canada) is a non-profit NGO devoted to closing the education divide through teacher professional development and community education. We are focused on advancing and supporting the movement for educators and advocates for education to do our part in supporting our colleagues and their students in disadvantaged regions here at home and around the world.
We are a Canadian-based organization who partners with other NGOs and African organizations in order to provide professional development opportunities for teachers at the grassroots level. Classroom connections between our teachers are encouraged and supported.
Currently, we are seeking globally-minded teachers (from any country of origin) to work on a team for 2-3 weeks periods in the following locations in South Africa and Kenya for summer (northern hemisphere) of 2010:
Eastern Cape province & Cape Town, South Africa: late June to mid-July (1-2 ICT/technology teachers needed to complete our team)
Mbita/Mfangano Island, Kenya: mid-July to early August (4-5 ICT/technology teachers needed who also have background in at least one subject area)
Laikipia District, Kenya - early to mid-August, (Math, Science, English teachers and one ICT teacher needed)
Naivasha District, Kenya (Math, Science, English teachers and one ICT teacher needed)
For each of these initiatives, we will be working closely with in-country teachers who have previously attended our workshops.
If you are interested in applying for our teams, please contact Noble Kelly, president of EBB, at noble@educationbeyondborders.org, for more information and an application.
We have already received a number of applications, but are in urgent need of math teachers this year. Please pass along the need!
I have been involved as a team member in all four locations in the past two years; please don't hesitate to contact me - Sharon Peters - for more information.
