Teaching Theme

I am going to be working on the concept of theme with my 8th graders.  I was thinking a good strategy would be to find different pieces of material (short stories, poems, songs, ect..) that were based all on the same theme.  Then the students would work in groups to discuss what the theme may be.  The problem is where to find the materials.  Any suggestions?
