This Classroom 2.0: The Book chapter can be downloaded at: http://www.scribd.com/doc/100215802/Jennifer-Judkins-Technology-Tim...

For busy teachers, incorporating technology can seem like an overwhelming task, given the already
significant demands on their time. In reality, the use of technology can and should help teachers become more efficient and effective, allowing them to focus their time on addressing student needs.

This chapter contains tips, digital resources, and tools that can help even the most reluctant adopter of technology realize its important use for any classroom teacher. Before teachers can become energized about integrating technology into their curriculum, it’s necessary to expose them to the many ways in which their own practice can be enhanced through increased digital literacy.

This is a wonderful resource, Jennifer, thank you!  I like the way you brought "everything" together in your chapter, and, given the time, I will look up the Resources for Teachers section.  I'm currently learning Camtasia to embed videos for my online class.  Have any tips on best conversion of YouTube videos since our schools in Hawaii don't allow them?

Hayami-

I'm glad to hear you found the chapter useful!  I'm not sure I understand your question.  Have you tried http://www.savevid.com/ to download and save Youtube videos?  I'm not sure if it would work at your school but have you tried http://viewpure.com/ where you can put in the YouTube link and it creates a different URL which takes you to the video without the ads and suggested videos on the side?

No & no.  But I will certainly give them a try.  A couple of years ago, Amanda Vogel ( in case she sees this) told me about savevid but I couldn't recall it when I needed it.  Thanks for the reminder, Jennifer!

This is an awesome idea, I am definitely and advocate for including more technology in classrooms. I didn't quite see this in your book(I might have missed something) but some great new tech driven resources that I have heard of are:

  • Khan Academy - a great resource if you are looking to have topics illustrated visually and clearly - free
  • Valve's Learn with Portals Initiative  - this is a computer game that has a great physic engine that allows you to manipulate and move the environment. This is a fun interactive way to potentially get your students to learn
  • ITunes U - many great podcasts with a wide variety of subjects.

These are some 2.0 resources, in the classroom I am definitely an advocate of projecting these resources for all students to see and learn from. Many of these lessons can be planned out at home, connected via a VGA or HDMI cable to an AAXA or 3M projector and you are good to go. Education 2.0 is definitely the trend right now
