The Coldest Winter Ever....

As the novel opens, Winter is given the opportunity to create her own image and ensure that the reader understands her as the main character. What is your opinion on Winter as the protagonist and how does her setting, influences and background help you understand her? In answering this question, discuss how her father's status influenced her outlook on life as well. Lastly, discuss the reason that Winter found the idea of moving from the surroundings she's known her whole life repulsive and unnecessary.

How does all of this tie into the way that the plot unfolds from chapters 1-10?

Winter opens the book with a description telling who she is, and her family. Her father, Santiaga, is a well-known and respected drug-lord of Brooklyn, and when he tells her that they have to move, (because of a deal gone wrong) she disagrees, and sooner or later finds her way back to where she belongs. Winter does not care who she or what she has to do to get what she wants, because her mother taught her that "a bad b***h" gets what she wants, and Winter wanted to be in Brooklyn, regardless of the situation.

winter background is very important because it shows the type of person that she is allso show how she lives but wen she was growing up she allways thought nobody can tell her nun because her daddy was a big time drug dealer but wen they took her daady now she new she got to survive on her own in this big world but she dont what nobody to see her fall off so she move to brookln and start selling drugs

In the surroundings in which Winter grew up in makes her exactly who she is. She's very aggresive and I'm pretty sure she got that from her father's "lessons." Every single decision her father made had an influence on how Winter is now. She had a problem with moving from Brooklyn because that's all she knows. She doesn't know how to act in any other place, and when her father told her that the streets in Long Island aren't the same as in Brooklyn, he was stating that she shouldn't be so careless like she was in the past residence. She was only taught how to live in that one place, so now that she's in another place, she doesn't know how to react to somethings. Since everything she's had has been given to her, she has no idea how to deal with everything without Santiaga.

Winter looks up to her father. With that being she is a hustler just like him most of the time throughout the story she always says something similar to "thats how daddy raised me" . Things like Santiago wants her to be strong with or without him and the enviriorment she lives in encourages that. She thinks that she is top notch and she will forever be top notch no matter what and moving into a diffrent enviorment is not what she wanted to do but she still feels to stay on top i feel her reputation is important and she believes her fathers is to. The Brooklynn streets has Winters mind set as that rough neck girl.

My opinion on winter as the story opened up was that she was fast and very intrigued by sex, the setting influences the background and helps me understand her by telling why she had turn,be cold, and do the things that she had done, the book is the Coldest Winter Ever, not literally meaning a very cold winter, but the hard times that our protagonist was ging through and enduring. Winters father Ricky Santiaga was a major drug dealer in their region that everyone had knew about, he made Winter protected and made her feel like no one could mess with her just because she was the child of Santiaga. Winter had found the whole idea of moving away repulsive, because she didnt think or know that anything was going on at the time. In chapters 1-10 it begins tho show you the reasoning of everyhting that happened previously in the story, and what the name of the book atually means.
